It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Professor David Green on 6 September 2024.
A doughnut-shaped region thousands of kilometres beneath our feet within Earth’s liquid core has been discovered by ANU scientists, providing new clues about the dynamics of our planet’s magnetic field.
More than 100 years on from Queensland's largest earthquake, researchers are re-writing history having discovered the epicentre was more than 250 kilometres away from where they thought it was.

RSES Education Forum Semester 1 2024 will be held in J1 Seminar Room. There will be a focus on changes to governance and curriculum in the undergraduate program providing an opportunity for discussion as well as guest speakers discussing Indigenous perspectives, the use of AI in education and more.
The RSES Environmental Geodesy Group is hosting the Australian Geodesy Workshop at RSES 21st-22nd November. There will be 20+ talks over two days with 3 from RSES. Open to all!
RSES seminar series
The RSES Seminar Series serves as a scientific gathering for the school, showcasing cutting-edge research by leading scientists and academics from Australia and beyond. Seminar topics encompass all areas of earth sciences, including geology, geochemistry, geophysics, geobiology, climate and ocean geosciences, geoscience education, and diversity initiatives in STEM.
The ANU Research School of Earth Sciences seminar series regularly features academics, students, and researchers from Australia and around the world to present topics covering the entire range of earth sciences.
