2025 Earth Sciences Research Project Expo
This event featured presentations on potential and ongoing student research projects in Earth Sciences. Projects were targeted for students at all levels from undergraduate to PhD. Presentations were delivered by 11 academics from across the School representing groups in seismology, petrology, climate and fluid physics, geodesy, paleomagnetism and geodynamics. The projects presented involved a range of methodologies spanning fieldwork, laboratory experiments, big data analysis and sophisticated computer modeling. We welcome both current ANU students and future students to ANU to get in touch.

Description
RSES held the 2025 Earth Sciences Research Project Expo on Monday 27th October. This event featured presentations on potential and ongoing student research projects in Earth Sciences. These projects were targeted for students at all levels from undergraduate to PhD. The presentations were delivered by 11 academics from across the School representing research groups in seismology, petrology, climate and fluid physics, geodesy, paleomagnetism and geodynamics. The projects presented involved a range of methodologies spanning fieldwork, laboratory experiments, big data analysis and sophisticated computer modeling. Both the subject matter and methodologies illustrated the enormous diversity of Earth Sciences research. Indeed, a key theme that emerged from the event was the highly interdisciplinary nature of research in Earth Sciences and that it is the ideal field in which to conduct applied research for students with backgrounds and skillsets from across the spectrum of science. Such backgrounds include environmental science, physics, astronomy, chemistry, computing, engineering, mathematics, and many more.
We welcome both current ANU students and those considering future studies at ANU to get in touch. We would love to talk to you.
Please reach out directly to the presenters (details contained in the slides) or to the following administrative contacts:
