Get into Earth and Marine Sciences (GEMS) is a program hosted by RSES AND sponsored by Inspiring the ACT.
GEMS is a one day workshop for students in the local region; it introduces students to a diverse range of Earth science topics and research activities as well as a variety of Earth science careers.

Based at the ANU Campus, GEMS is a day of discussions, laboratory tours, workshops and hands on activities. Participants will meet and work with university students and researchers from RSES.
Activities and topics will include:
Life on Earth timeline, using fossils for dating and understanding the past;
Understanding seismology;
Fluid laboratory experiments, learning about water density and waves;
Corals and the record of past climate;
Crystals, minerals and rocks;
The opportunity to learn about the careers and interests of Earth and marine scientists
GEMS is a free event with morning tea and lunch provided. Come and meet passionate students and researchers in science and get inspired to become an Earth scientist of the future.
