Our Researchers Receive Global Recognition for Outstanding Achievements

We are delighted to share several outstanding achievements from our community.

Andrew Berry has been awarded the Neumann Medal of the Mineralogical Society of the United Kingdom and Ireland.  The Neumann Medal is the most prestigious honour bestowed by the Society and recognises an outstanding long-term contribution to mineralogy.  The Medal will be presented at the 150th Anniversary Meeting of the Society in the UK next year. Dr Siavash Ghelichkhan has been awarded the 2026 Outstanding Young Scientist Award of the European Geosciences Union (EGU) for the Geodynamics Division. This early-career award recognises his fundamental contributions in numerical geophysics, in particular to mantle structure and evolution, the adjoint method, and G-ADOPT development Sia will deliver his award talk next May in Vienna during the EGU General Assembly.

Congratulations to Mark Hoggard who has been listed in The Australian’s Research Magazine as in the top 250 researchers of 2026, and highest ranked in Geophysics. The list is published annually and is intended to recognize the quality, impact and volume of published research over the last five years.
