Australian Seismometers in Schools allows students to watch and monitor distant earthquakes in the classroom. Forty schools have the equipment. Students get to see and operate real equipment, record real results, and engage with professional scientists. Results are sent to Australia’s national earthquake monitoring system. Ann Jones visits Melrose High School in Canberra to meet students and teachers doing real science in the classroom.
