About

I am Thyagi, a computational geoscientist specialising in geodynamics and geophysics. My research explores why large earthquakes occur and how they relate to the dynamics of Earth’s interior. I combine numerical modelling, geophysical observations and computational methods to investigate the processes that drive deformation and shape earthquake behaviour. My current work focuses on megathrust earthquakes, subduction dynamics, mantle convection and the representation of faults in geodynamic models. I also have a strong interest in structural geology, particularly how faults and fault networks connect deep Earth processes with deformation at the surface. I use and develop open-source computational tools to study Earth processes across a wide range of spatial and temporal scales, with simulations often running on thousands of CPU cores. I actively contribute to the development of Underworld and related tools for geodynamic modelling and Earth science applications.
