Oliver is studying Anadara trapezia (Sydney Cockle) bivalves within the RSES marine biogeochemistry labs under Dr. Laura Otter and Prof. Steve Eggins. The project has involved growing A. trapezia within aquaculture, within temperatures between 13 and 28°C over the span of 80 days. The aim has been to calibrate the oxygen isotope ratios incorporated into the species shell material, to known shellfish paleotemperature proxies to allow for accurate paleo and future estuarine seawater temperatures to be interpreted along the East Australian coastline.
